Guru Purnima 2010

Sri Kalki Peedum Society / ஸ்ரீ கல்கி பீடும் சங்கம்

Guru Purnima & 12th Anniversary Celebrations.

Guru Sri Kalki Jothi
In conjunction with this year's Guru Purnima (full moon) which fell on 25th July 2010 we celebrated Sri Kalki Peedum Society's 12th anniversary. Although it may just be another full moon in the calendar for most people, in Hinduism it is like a 'teachers' day' or a 'thanks giving day' for all religious Masters (Gurus) and their faithful disciples.

It is also a significant day for followers to become official disciples of their Guru’s. This involves getting their 'theedchai Mantra' for which the guru sacrifices part of his energy gained through penance and meditation. This creates a strong link between the disciple and the guru. A 'mantra' protects the one who recites it. The 'theedchai mantra' protects and frees the soul from the bondage of 'life and death'. Any disciple will be able to realize the effect of this mantra if he recites it with true faith and devotion.

Getting a 'theedchai mantra' from our honourable Guru Sri Kalki is meant for 'self-purification' with pure God consciousness. A guru is putting himself into many difficulties and pains by officially accepting disciples by giving them the 'theedchai mantra' since from on, it becomes the duty of the guru to clear his disciple's Karma of the past and present. For this reason, most gurus will refrain from giving 'theedchai mantra' to avoid such burdens. It is considered that offending such great gurus is similar to offending GOD. Mistakes or sins done by ungrateful disciples are severely punished by their own deeds that happen naturally. They are also pushed into another birth to repent.

A short Speech was given by our Honorable Guru Sri Kalki Jothi swamigal on this auspicious day.

Here are some memorable quotes from his speech.
“If you take for example a banana stalk, one among all would be ripe and yellow. Eventually all the fruits would turn yellow. That’s what a Guru is for, to make everyone reach the shore like him”.
“A guru is also like a Mango tree, if one were to bad mouth a guru, it is like hitting the tree with a stick or stone. But people do it only because the mango fruit is sweet. A true guru will remain still like a mango tree and keep giving everyone sweet mangos”.

At the end of the speech Guru Sri Kalki cut the cake in celebration of 12 successful years of Sri Kalki Peedum Society. After which, all disciples performed 'patha puja' for our guru. Lunch was served at 1pm and the crowd slowly dispersed by 3pm.

I would like to end off with a simple message to everyone.
"Never be too far nor get too near a guru, physical distance should always be maintained, instead achieve a strong connection with him through your meditation and devotion”.

Yours Sincerely,
Latchumi Amma

4. The Mermaid

Sri Kalki Peedum Society / ஸ்ரீ கல்கி பீடும் சங்கம்

On december 2004, Guru Sri Kalki went to Penang. His followers brought him to a new resort on another island. They booked a room for him to stay there for the night with his family. They were telling that Guru's stay would chase away the evil spirits haunting the resort. It was a proven truth by most of our disciples and followers.

Upon reaching, Guru’s family checked in a room. The guys checked into another room. After dinner, all of them went to bed early. All were sound a sleep when it was past mid night, a banging sound caught Guru's attention. He looked around and no one including ghosts were there. He closed his eyes again and he heard a louder banging sound outside behind his bed.

He opened the door and went out to check but couldn’t see anyone present. He went to his disciple’s room to check on what were they doing. He found the room was empty. Our Guru Sri Kalki understood that out of fear, the guys went back home. Thus Guru went back to his room and slept. Soon after, two mermaids brought his ‘spirit body’ to the deep sea.

At that moment, he found himself in white cloths but in a rather unusually large body. He came back to his normal body before sunrise. He had a terrible headache and couldn’t remember much but could only sense something bad that was going to happen due to the sea. He waited patiently for his disciples to arrive in the morning.

When his disciples arrived, Guru went out of his room to talk to them. He was telling them about what he experienced last night. During that conversation, his daughter was taking random pictures of herself in the room with her phone camera while others were packing their luggage. When all of them finished packing, they went to the ferry point and took the ferry back to Penang.

The next morning, while Guru was in his shower he had a weird feeling and at the same time the lizards in that room were making unusual sounds while the birds started to beat the window glasses in their room. This incident really surprised his family members. GUru immediately told all of them to pack and leave the hotel. He called his disciple to drive them towards Butterworth. Half way travelling on the Penang Bridge, all of them saw the huge Tsunami waves rushing towards the Penang shores. The hotel they stayed was also badly affected.

Upon returning home, the next day Guru's daughter developed the pictures in her phone. While looking at the pictures, she saw a mermaid sitting invisibly on her dad’s bed. Which was captured by the camera. It seems that ‘she’ was also listening to Guru's conversation with his disciples about his sea trip.

5. Thanabal (A Devotee's experience)

Sri Kalki Peedum Society / ஸ்ரீ கல்கி பீடும் சங்கம்

In the past years, there were countless people who have been with our Guru Sri Kalki Jothi but at present, only a few managed to maintain their friendship with him. Most of the time all those with personal motives and negative thoughts were unable to stay for long as their own problems, work or other commitments will slowly move them away. However those who were with him now are the ones who understand our Guru well.

Bala is one of them. He managed to cling on with our guru for more than 30 years. It is our good karma and faith that controls our feelings in all situations. Eventually either one would upgrade or downgrade in the present life. Though Bala has met many problems in his life, somehow he has learnt not to blame others for his own karma. He has also made sure that faith is practiced more for salvation and not always for fulfilling desires. Maybe for this perfection, Bala have witness many divine incidents.

One day, our guru asked Bala to stay overnight at his place. Samy was sleeping in his room and Bala was sleeping in the hall. It was past midnight, Bala heard someone knocking the door so he got up and opened the door. Bala saw an old lady standing there. Bala didn’t know who it was and before he could questioned her, she entered the house and walked into Samy’s room. Bala closed the door and rushed back to sleep. A few moments later, before Bala was about a doze off, something triggered in his mind. “Who is this old lady and why did she entered Samy’s room?” Immediately he got up and opened Samy’s room door, he was shocked to see that there was no one in the room except for Samy. He than realized that ‘mother’ came as an old lady. Apart from, Samy’s mother Madam Yasotha, Bala was the second person to see ‘mother’ in person.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was eve of fire-walking ceremony at Sri Mariamman temple. Samy was participating in this ceremony for the first time. Like others, Samy was very nervous. He and his friends were standing behind the main sanctum of the temple. It was very crowded. Suddenly an old lady dashed out from the crowd and approached Samy. ‘My son is participating in this ceremony for the first time, tell me what to do?’ Samy was startled since it was his first time too. He thought for awhile and than told her, ‘you take some turmeric powder from the Droupadi sanctum and apply it on his forehead and rub some on his chest.

Take a few neem leaves and ask him to chew it and than ask him to hold a bundle of neem leaves throughout the ceremony. He will have no fear for ‘mother’ will guide him’. The old lady, who was questioning him, quickly applied the turmeric powder on Samy’s forehead and gave some neem leaves to chew. She gave Samy a bundle of neem leaves and told him, ‘don’t be afraid, I’ll be with you’. Without any delay she immediately walked behind Droupadi Amman’s concealed sanctum and disappeared. Bala who was there witnessing the incident was astonished.

Many years passed, it was another ‘fire walking’ ceremony at the same temple. Due to some personal problem or simply ‘mood swing’, Bala avoided seeing Samy to get his blessings. He was taking a short nap at home before going to temple. He dozed off. He still can’t differentiate if it was a dream or for real, ‘mother Kali appeared in her furious reddish form. Her head was Samys’ and body was mothers’, the vision came so close to him that gave a jerk and he was wide-awake. He realized that he had made a mistake. He quickly took his shower and rushed to see Samy before going to the temple. Samy smiled at him and asked did ‘mother’ scare you. Bala sensed the divine connection between them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
India pilgrimage trips with our Guru are trips that bring blessings from many ‘special people’. Once Bala followed Samy to ‘Thirupathi temple’, after offering their prayers they came out of the sanctum. It was drizzling outside so they walked to the opposite building for shelter. While standing there, a tall and dark person looks like a hermit approached Samy. He was clad in saffron colored dhoti below waist and was wearing wooden clogs as footwear. His hair was neatly plaited on his head and was wearing many rudrasha beads around his neck. He carried a small ‘Kamandalum’ and from it he poured some water into the palm of Samy and than to Bala for both to drink. He raised his hand as sign of blessing and told, ‘you are deva of all devas, sithar of all sithars and carried on (unbelievable verses and divine secrets).

Samy and Bala quietly listened to him. The next minute, the hermit asked Samy to bless him too. Samy gave his blessings and than he humbly clasped his hands and walked away. Both were watching him walking towards a wall and disappearing into it. Bala got panicked while Samy was smiling. That night at the hotel room, Bala began to talk weird things like going away from family and so on. His friends got upset about his sudden change and informed Samy. Samy came to see Bala and gave him a glass of blessed water. Awhile later, Bala came to normal condition. You don’t have to rush to renounce your life now. If I can wait for the right time you too have to wait. I still have many things to achieve when the time comes; you can follow me ok.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On another trip, at the hotel room, Samy told Bala that when we go to temple next morning, a hermit would be waiting for me. Samy decided to go half an hour late to the temple. Once Samy and Bala reached the entrance, a hermit rushed to Samy and grabbed his hand. ‘Why are you coming late? You are supposed to be here at 10am. I was waiting for you for than an hour. Come with me’. He pulled Samy to Lord Siva’s sanctum where there were not many people around. He started to talk on various matters and some in ‘code word’ that Bala didn’t understand. After sometime he bid farewell and left Samy.

Just a few years back, Samy and Bala went to an ‘Hanuman temple’ at a place called ‘Nanganallur’ near to Madras. After prayers they were walking towards their car. On the way, they stopped at a ‘push cart’ stall to have some tea. While drinking, Samy noticed a ‘sanyasi’ with long hair logs and faded dhoti below waist, holding an arm length stick was showing some sign language to Samy. He was asking Samy to follow him. Samy told Bala and asked Bala to get him drink too. After the drink, without a word that ‘sanyasi’ showed hand signs again. Samy told Bala and both followed him. He climbed the steps of a 2-storey house and reached the top. There he had made a small hut for himself to stay. He asked both to step into his hut and offered chairs to sit. He introduced himself to them. Bala has usual began his questioning session.

He was a ‘sanyasi’ (bachelor) and from a rich family. He discarded every materialistic requirement to become a ‘sanyasi’. He doesn’t talk to anyone there so most of them thought that he was ‘dumb’. He revealed that Samy’s vibrations really surprised him. ‘When I touched Samy, I can feel an electrifying sensation but Samy looked very simple and dress in normal clothes that can trick anyone who don’t know much about the truth of divine life. I am a seeker of ‘Kala Bairavar’. I am preparing for full renunciation. At the right time, when Lord Siva calls, I will be settling in ‘Thiruvannamalai’. He looked at Bala and said, ‘Bala you have the right person with you. Never leave him no matter what happens.’ The ‘sanyasi’ prepared a special drink for them. After sometime, Samy and Bala left the place.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once Bala told Samy about his working colleague, a lady who had problems in conceiving a child. She had many miscarriages and looked sickly due to her worries. Though she is from a different race and religion, she decided to accept any sort of help to have a child. Samy asked Bala to buy an apple and a bottle of mineral water. He prayed to ‘mother’ and blessed both. Bala passed it to her and she thankfully accepted those. A few months past, she became pregnant. After she gave birth, she visited Samy to thank him personally. After a few months, she conceived her second child.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are thinking that out of 30 years, does Bala have only such few experiences to share than you are incorrect. Samy’s life is full of surprises and these are Bala’s best experience that will always stays fresh in his mind..
